2004
Updates

July 11, 2004 I added a comment to the April 24, 2003 morbid fact and I added a Thailand page to the Morbid Sightseer, starring Si Quey's Place - a great forensic museum. I also added a link to the new documentary about the Keddie Murders to the California Morbid Sightseer homepage. And I added a link to the brilliant Happy Tree Friends to the All Things Dark & Gruesome links page - one of the best morbid humor sites on the web. July 9, 2004 I added the 1931 version of Dracula to the Film page of the Library Eclectica. June 30, 2004 I added a reader suggestion - a book entitled "The Little Book Of Bad Taste" - to the Library Eclectica's History page. June 26, 2004 I've added a Nebraska page to The Morbid Sightseer so that I might make mention of Fort Robinson - another of the sad sites where abuses occurred against Native Americans back in the "good old days". I also added a link to Mt. Hope Cemetery in Rochester, NY to the New York page. And I added an Iowa page to accommodate the Amy's suggestions of the First Brides Grave and the old Swift Meat Packing Plant. June 25, 2004 I've made an update to the Dr. Pierce's Golden Medical Discovery page in the Quackery section of the Garretdom feature to add a photograph of a barn with an old Dr. Pierce ad painted on its side, and some additional information on Dr. Pierce from the Museum of Menstruation. Of all places. I also added the Haunted Walks of Kingston and Ottawa, Canada to the Morbid Sightseer Canada page. June 24, 2004 I've added a new Featured Film to the Library Eclectica's Film Page. This time the honor goes to a new boxed set for Seasons One and Two of Six Feet Under. Such a great show!
Obviously, my best intentions have been overridden by reality yet again, since I haven't been able to mail out any morbid facts for almost a week. I have intermittent e-mail server problems, and it seems that the connection I'm using here at a hotel in Indianapolis is not up to snuff for sending out newsletters. So, I think I'll have to find some other manner of sending them out for my next trip here. In the meantime, I will be home again on Thursday, June 24th, and you can expect a new MFDJ then. I deeply apology for the ongoing issues. I'm definitely way beyond frustrated! In the meantime, I've made some updates to the site:
June 12, 2004 I've added a recommendation to the Fiction page of the Library Eclectica. The book is entitled Off Season and it sounds most gruesome! June 11, 2004 Good News!!!! I was able to resolve the mail server issue by tweaking some settings, so the latest MFDJ has now been safely delivered. Whew!!! In other news, I added a link to the Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park to the Georgia Morbid Sightseer page. Civil War buffs will love this place. June 10, 2004 Well, dammit - apparently, the MFDJ list is currently sunk until I can find another mail server. My usually reliable Shocking.Com is not allowing any connections any longer and I haven't had much luck in resolving the issue. I thought it was confined to one PC, but now I find it's on another one as well... so I can't send the MFDJ out to the distribution list currently. I will be posting it to the website, so you won't be missing anything if you continue to access through the web... but until I find myself another mail server... it's a bleak time for the morbid! Or, hopefully, when I talk to Shocking.Com tomorrow, they can help me resolve the issue. Fingers crossed!!! In any
event, there's a new MFDJ here: June 6, 2004 Where have I been, you may be wondering? Well, I have been on a business trip, followed by a brief vacation, for the last three weeks. I sent out an e-mail to this effect for the MFDJ list... or so I thought. When I came home I found that the mailing had bounced. And now my mail server is down and I'm awaiting repairs so I can start sending the facts out again before I have another week and a half stint in Indianapolis for work. So, yes, life is tedious. You may have noticed that I've added a Donation link to the Asylum. This is something I really never intended to do, but I have had several individuals write me asking if they can donate to the site, and to be honest, I can definitely use the assistance these days. So, I decided to go ahead and add the option. Of course, any donations will be used to pay site operation fees solely. And they will be GREATLY appreciated, believe me! May 14, 2004 I added
a comment from Keith to the review of Stiff
on the Library Eclectica Death
page. May 8, 2004 Added an England page to the Morbid Sightseer, including a link to the Tyburn Convent. I did a bit of a redesign (very slight, actually) on the Sightseer homepage while I was there, and I also added a link to a new Urban Exploration link page. I also added Harms Way to the Gore books section of The Library Eclectica. April 30, 2004 I am getting around to doing some LONG overdue tasks around the site. For example, I've just updated the Reciprocal Links page with Magdalen Sez. Magdalen is a MFDJ patron who happens to have one of the more worthwhile blogs I've yet to see. Keep up the good work, my dear! Of course, THE most worthwhile blog is the one belonging to Iraqi Girl - Baghdad Burning. If you want to find out the Iraqi perspective on the war for Bush's Campaign Financiers, check it out. You'd do well to read her March 29th entry to find out the sort of horrible things that are going on over there. April 27, 2004 You'll be pleased to hear that I'm back from an extended period of sadness and apathy brought on by my mother's death and the depressing oncoming of spring (it was 98 degrees here yesterday... yes, I am truly in Hell), and I'm ready to begin updating the site regularly again! My first step was to add The Celebrity Morgue back to All Things Dark & Gruesome, and remove the broken link to The Dead Body Picture Page, which has gone MIA (as they always do). I've also received a nice shiny new medal from my friend Alf to go on the mantlepiece. (Of course, mind you, a medal and a ribbon are interchangeable so if I should ever speak of having a rift with Alf that inspires me to toss out my medal, I may really mean my ribbon. And if you don't know what I'm referring to here, you really need to do a better job at keeping up with current GOP diversionary tactics...) Without further ado, here's the lovely new award:
