Fatal Distraction

March 10th, 2009

Here’s a fascinating article about the modern epidemic of parents fatally forgetting their children in cars. Turns out it’s a side-effect of our lizard brains. Who’d a thunk? Anyway, the article certainly brings to light the fact that this could happen to ANYONE given the right circumstances, and vividly portrays the guilt and torment that the parents must live with for the rest of their lives. Highly recommended.

I hate to get all warm and fuzzy, but that Lyn would carry a child for the Harrisons takes my breath away…in a good way.

Imagine being those kids that they talked about on the first page, the ones who were on a class trip visiting a courthouse? That would stay with you forever.

Yeah, in a few years they’ll be posting that experience here under “My Brush with Morbidity.”

I feel bad, but I’m really jealous of the kids that were visiting. When I visited my state capital and saw a courthouse all we learned about were the state bird and flower.

My 18 month old niece was left in a car on 4 July 1999. She would be almost 11 turning 12 late July of this year. She was left in the car by her Aunt, my brother’s sister-in-law, no charges filed for her neglect.
    Cheers
