So how about that woman arrested for the murder of the 9-year-old girl in sleepy little Tracy, California? Allegedly, she not only murdered the girl, she also raped her with a foreign object. You’d think after doing something so horrendous (not to mention potentially embarrassing) you’d take a little more care to hide the evidence? Instead, the suitcase bobs up out of the rice field, like something out of Deliverance. (And yes, I am proud of myself that I was able to namecheck Deliverance two days in a row!) This will be an interesting case to follow…

I agree, I’m completely enthralled by this case and I can’t wait to see it unfold.
I was waiting for you to comment, dearest Comtesse. It is all the more interesting because it is so rare for a woman to be the perpetrator in this sort of crime, and because of how quickly and…definitively she was apprehended. I mean, it’s not like the town sheriff made a snap decision that it was some trouble-making kids (*cough*westmemphis3*cough*), but rather that it became BLINDINGLY OBVIOUS almost immediately that a young, likable girl had been raped and murdered with little remorse by a Sunday School teacher and mother of her own young daughter. You have to wonder what circumstances are going to come to light as the case goes to court.
I’m not normally interested in these child-murder cases, but I am absolutely fascinated by this. I think it’s because the suspect is so different from the female murders I usually read about–poisoners and Aileen Wuornos. I wonder what the motive was.
Gruesome and fascinating. That poor little girl. I’ve since read that police are investigating the possibility that she might’ve abused other children in the area. It doesn’t sound like they have any proof of this, but that they’re looking into it at all makes me even more curious about her. Loved the account of her arraignment where she apparently flinched at the mention of the little girl’s name. Early on I’d wondered if perhaps she wasn’t taking the blame for someone else, but it sounds like the police are pretty confident that it was actually her. Who knows what else they’ll uncover. . .
The person is the evil twin to the Melissa Huckaby who is also a Sunday School teacher and live just a few miles away! And the same AGE!!!

You really have to wonder what sort of abuse was done to HER as a child to make her abusive? I wouldn’t be surprised if it turns out that the preacher grandfather sexually abused her from a young age. That’s usually how these stories work out.
