Morbid Fact Du Jour For November 7, 2011
November 7th, 2011
Sorry I’ve been away. Work ate my life for awhile. I doubt that ever happened to Thomas Parr… He knew how to live.
Today’s Satisfying Yet Truly Morbid Fact!
Thomas Parr of Winnington, Shropshire, was 152 years old when he died in the 17th century. He married at 80 and was compelled to do penance for adultery at the age of 105. Seven years later he married a second time, ‘to the stated satisfaction of his new wife’. Forty years later he finally succumbed to rich food, strong drink and the sulphurous air of London.

152 years old… holy cow. And to think, One could very easily kick the bucket back then! This guy must’ve been insanely healthy with an iron curtain of an immune system!!! Amazing! Thanks for sharing!
I very much doubt he was really 152. Not to be a killjoy, and he probably was an old fellow, but it’s generally accepted that no human has or likely will live much past 120.
In the old days, a lot of those supposedly super-centenarian males got their ages by falsifying their birth records to avoid military service, or there was confusion if they shared the same name with their father or grandfather.
