“rendered senseless first?” Come on, where’s the fun in that? Where’s the challenge, for that matter? They ought to make them run an obstacle course while a firing squad tries to score the fatal shot. Really a great way to practice their marksmanship, much more real-world than aiming at somebody zonked out of his mind and tied to a chair.

Oh, yuck! Never mind the sight of it, just imagine how that all must SMELL! And taste!
And the moral of that story is: forget about sending laptops to kids in Africa, send ‘em toothbrushes and toothpaste.
Damn, I really wish I could find a good book full of descriptions of diseases like that! I mean, the Merck Manual of Medical Information is good, but it sure doesn’t have the really odd stuff like Noma in it.
BTW: Is Noma an African word, or is it initials for something? Like Noxious Oral Mess Alert?

Those Russians certainly have a gift for understatement. “Death by overheating.” More like boiling alive.
I wonder if alcohol played any part here. I have seen on TV how Russians like to drink vodka in their saunas. And alcohol might have kept them from registering the steam rising from the plunge pool.
